Hiking routes
In and around the Ommerbosch. At the Het Laer estate, there is a children’s farm – a lovely destination for a walk through the wooded area.
Cycling routes
There are beautiful routes through forests and along waterways. Seven kilometres away lies the “Sahara” sand drift. Around 1840, Baron van Pallandt had it afforested to reduce further drifting. A perfect picnic spot during a bike ride. Heading towards Dalfsen, you’ll pass many charming places. You may see storks, and you can pass through the lock at Vilsteren – all special cycling trips starting right from the Vechtdal Cottage.
Canoeing

For sporty guests, there is the option to go canoeing.

Rent a silent boat

Renting a silent electric boat is also possible.

Two public swimming pools
There are two public swimming pools in Ommen – one indoor and one outdoor – both just a few kilometres (two and four) from the Vechtdal Cottage.

Ommer Bissingh
Ommen is a friendly town on the river Vecht. In summer, various activities take place as part of  the Ommer Bissingh– an annual event in July and August with (flea) markets, a fair, and lots of activities.
National Tin Figures Museum
In 1985, the National Tin Figures Museum was founded in Ommen. After renovations in 2006, it has been regarded as one of the finest tin figure museums in the world, bringing art and history together.
Located on the Pieterpad
Ommen is located on the Pieterpad long‑distance trail.

Just 300 metres from your accommodation is the De Lindenberg world restaurant , where you can eat very well. 

Something for everyone

Just 2 kilometres from the Hanseatic town of Ommen and 1 kilometre from the Ommerbosch. In the beautiful nature around Ommen, you can go for walks and cycling tours. For the sporty, there’s canoeing; renting a silent electric boat is also an option. There are also two public swimming pools in Ommen—one indoor and one outdoor—both just a few kilometres (two and four) from the Vechtdal Cottage.
